acrylic & mixed-media artistCRAIG BLACKCraig Black is an artist who mostly works in acrylic, but over the years has worked in many media. He has been an artist his whole life, and his acrylic works are a large collection of several hundred pieces spanning more than 50 years. He grew up in Gary, Indiana, moving to Baton Rouge, Louisiana in his teens. He worked as gardener and caretaker for 46 years at the stunning Houmas House plantation and gardens. He retired in 2019 and moved to Colorado to be with his children and grandchildren. He lives in Centennial, and enjoys his whimsical lush garden in the backyard, and his cozy painting studio. His works are showcased at The Plant Gallery at Quebec and County line in Centennial. His additional works are available to show by appointment at his studio.
His style of painting is often very surrealist, but he is very prolific and has a wide range of styles in the collection. His work is stream-of-consciousness. Unlike many artists, who sit down to paint something specific, Craig sits down.... to paint. He lets the paint brush go where it will, and his subconscious drive. You can call his daughter, Lilli, if you have questions about the work, or to have a private tour of the galleries with the artist. 303.995.2867 |
Craig is also a prolific poet, and writes daily.
